SOUTH WHITLEY — It takes two to tango but it also takes a pair of teams, wanting what only one can have, to add a little physicality.
Most like to call it a knock down, drag out contest.
Friday night’s Whitko (2-1) boys’ home opener was just that. The Wildcats were in search of their first win in the state of Indiana while Norwell (2-1) looked to remain perfect.
Using a combined 40 points two of northeast Indiana’s top 10 scorers, Whitko muscled past the Knights 58-47.
COLUMBIA CITY — Three Eagles flew above all others Friday night when Columbia City (2-1) boys’ basketball hosted Northfield (2-1).
Led by sophomore Drew Benedict’s game-high 22 points, City post players Tyler Mosher and Daniel Woll added 14 points apiece in a breakaway 55-38 win over the Norsemen.
A strong shooting night by Columbia City helped the Eagles out score Northfield in every quarter. In both halves, City shot over 50 percent going 20-for-35 for the game (57.1 percent).
