Best of the Decade: Moore a big piece in bigger puzzle

   “Any individual award you get, I’m convinced, is a by-product of how successful your team was.”
   Humbled is what Marcus Moore was after being told he was selected by The Post & Mail readers as male athlete of the decade.
   The former Columbia City boys’ basketball star, better known as one-half of the Moore twins, just saw himself as another piece to the puzzle that was a huge success for Columbia City athletics.

   He’s the one and only at Columbia City High School. Not the talented teammates around him nor the names that join him on the top 10 career scoring list can say what he can.

   One of the many elements of a 2004 state finalist team in boys’ basketball, Sheckler was the go-to scoring threat for the Eagles in their pursuit of a state title.

   COLUMBIA CITY — From start to finish, the Columbia City versus Homestead football game certainly gave the capacity crowd their money’s worth.

’Cats help Swender get first win over Manchester 27-7

   NORTH MANCHESTER — Not only did Whitko pick up another conference win Friday night, Wildcat head coach Wayne Swender got his first win against Manchester 27-7.
   “We’ve been proud of our defense all year long and they won the game for us,” Swender said.
   After three close quarters of play, the game was a sealed deal after a big defensive play by the Wildcat defense in the fourth quarter.

Above the Competition: ’Busco routs Eastside

   Churubusco cornerback Adam Boggess skies for an interception in the first quarter of the Eagles road trip to Eastside Friday night. ’Busco put up 53 points in the first half of their 60-28 win over the Blazers. Kyle Mathewson had 191 yards rushing with four touchdowns.
