Tough TRC stretch begins with win for Whitko

   SOUTH WHITLEY — Good teams  find a way to make adjustments when things aren’t going exactly the way they usually do.
   In a Friday night match-up of two of the Three Rivers Conference’s best teams, it was the Whitko Wildcats who were able to use a rugged defense and adjust when their leading scorer had a bit of an off shooting night.
   The end result was a 56-42 win over the visiting Rochester Zebras that kept the Wildcats perfect in the conference.

Eagles keep pace, ground Fremont

   CHURUBUSCO — It was a battle of the Eagles Friday night in Churubusco’s gymnasium.
   After watching the girls’ team suffer a tough loss, the ’Busco boys took the court  seeking revenge on Fremont, 73-50.
   Churubusco shot down Fremont from the beginning, with ’Busco’s Tyler Arrowsmith scoring six points in the first three minutes of the game.
   “We played really solid in the first six minutes,” Churubusco head coach Michael McBride said.

Road Warriors: City stays perfect in NHC

Columbia City hit the road in the Northeast Hoosier Conference Friday night keeping its record unblemished with a 62-45 win over Bellmont. The Eagles are off to their second consecutive 7-2 start under head coach Chris Benedict.

Fremont extends ’Busco slump

   CHURUBUSCO — It’s been almost a year to the day since Churubusco girls’ basketball saw its last win in the North East Corner Conference.
   Still in search of their first victory this season, the Lady Eagles (2-10) took to the hardwood at home against Fremont (7-5). ’Busco fought back from a nine-point deficit in the first quarter to tie the game three different times in the second.
   However, a 14-2 run before the half took Fremont’s momentuem into the second half where they went on to win 55-39.
