On Jan. 12, 2012, the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) is anticipated to change its energy cost adjustment rates.
The city of Columbia City will file with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), for its approval, a change in its schedule of rates for electricity sold to reflect the change in the cost of power from IMPA together with the reconciliation of electric costs and revenues from prior periods.
Upon approval from the IURC, a change per kilowatt hour is expected to be approximately:
• R: $0.001406 / Kwh
• RH: $0.001276 / Kwh
• GS: $0.000829 / Kwh
Rylie Ann Powell, 4, of Larwill, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born Dec. 14, 2006 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Paul Powell, Jr. and Amber Waybright. She lived her entire lifetime in Larwill.
COLUMBIA CITY — Robert E. Teusch, 81, of rural Columbia City, died at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne where he was admitted Nov. 9.
He was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Huntington County, a son of Edward J. and Odelia (Ness) Teusch.
His formative years were spent in Jefferson Township and Union Township. He graduated from Jefferson Center School.
From Feb. 7, 1951, until Jan. 8, 1953, he served in the U.S. Army.
On Jan. 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilee J. Miller.
Lena E. Runkle, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away Nov. 16, 2011, at Coventry Meadows.
She was born on Thursday, Dec. 18, 1919, in Montpelier.
She was the daughter of the late John Andrew Fitch and the late Julia (Weinrich) Fitch.
She married Nelson D. (Pete) Runkle on Nov. 13, 1937.
He preceded her in death in 2007.
She attended First Missionary Chuch. Mrs. Runkle worked a number of years at W.T. Grant and K-Mart .
She especially enjoyed her family, pets and flowers.
Dorothy E. Cunningham, 84, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at 2:03 a.m. at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Born April 25, 1927 in Allen County, she was the daughter of Edgar L. and Leona R. ”Mary” (Pike) Heinkel.
On June 29, 1957, she married James L. Cunningham.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie R. Minich and Carolyn Cunningham both of Fort Wayne; Theresa L. Luke of Altha, Fla.; sisters and brother, Celeste Saalfrank of Fort Wayne; Edgar L. Heinkel, Jr. of Fort Wayne; Cecile Dills of Mississippi; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
SOUTH WHITLEY — Catherine C. Gilbert, 68, of South Whitley, died at 2:29 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne where she had been a resident for the past three years.
She was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Wabash County, a daughter of Victor and Ruth (Tschantz) Walter.
Her formative years were spent in North Manchester. She graduated from North Manchester High School in 1961.
On Aug. 29, 1965, she was united in marriage to Donald D. Gilbert. They have always made their home in Whitley County moving to their farm in 1972.
A four-year-old Larwill girl has died at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

COLUMBIA CITY — A local man was convicted of a Class A felony, child molesting, Thursday night after a four-day jury trial.
Ronald A. Rostochak was accused of the crimes in 2009 and has since delayed his fate.

COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City police officer and area fireman’s house caught fire Thursday night.
Kenny Smith, master patrolman for the CCPD and a long-time fireman for Thorncreek Township, was on police duty when his home caught fire just around 11 p.m.
The officer’s wife, Julie Smith, was on-duty as a Whitley County dispatcher and took the 911 call from her son.
Smith said he rushed home at 185 W CR 200 N and was able to save two of three cats. He then changed from his CCPD uniform to his fire gear to assist in extinguishing the fire.
