Adjustment to mayor's wage proposed

November 23, 2011

COLUMBIA CITY - The first reading of ordinance 2011-13 took place Tuesday night at the Columbia City Common Council meeting.
The ordinance pertains to the 2012 salaries for elected officials.
Only one adjustment is being proposed: a raise of over $7,000 for the office of the mayor of Columbia City.
Mayor Jim Fleck iterated that the raise has nothing to do with an individual, but rather the position itself.
“I see it as compensation for a position,” said Fleck. “You treat it as you would according to any raises or denial of raises.”
