Elizabeth A. Robinson, 88, a resident of Fort Wayne and widow of Raymond E. Robinson, died at 1:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at University Park Nursing Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Bernard Sidney and Florence Augusta (Smith) Ginther.
She was married Feb. 24, 1940, to Raymond E. Robinson. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1996.
Ruby M. Yoder, 91, a resident of rural Huntertown and widow of Loyal R. Yoder, died at 5:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at the family residence in Perry Township.
Mrs. Yoder was born in Jackson Township in DeKalb County on July 17, 1920, a daughter of Michael J. and Alice Leora (Carnahan) Shoudel.
Surviving relatives include her children, Shirley Meighen of Fort Wayne and Dr. Larry Yoder of Goshen; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Tom L. Sanders, 79, a resident of rural Churubusco in Noble County, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Kingston at Dupont in Fort Wayne.
He had been in declining health for several years and had been a patient there for the past seven years.
Mr. Sanders was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Columbia City, a son of Joseph D. and Mary Elizabeth (Magley) Sanders, and spent his early childhood in Fort Wayne.
At age 13, he moved to Smith Township with his parents, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1950.
Gloria A. Brubaker, 63, of Pierceton, passed away at 10 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, in Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.
On June 5, 1948, Gloria was born in Wabash to Charles Fredrick and Doris Loretta (Figert) England Jr.
She graduated from Northfield High School in 1966 and then attended International Business College.
Gloria married Gary E. Brubaker in 1970 in Wabash. She had several jobs through the years, including working for Star Financial Bank in Columbia City. She was also a homemaker.
CHURUBUSCO Ââ The Lady Eagles girls basketball team provided Adams Central its first win of the season Tuesday, losing to the visiting Lady Jets, 44-34.
Two of Adams Central three leading scorers, Olivia Macklin and Jenae Blackburn, hit early jumpers to give the Lady Jets a 5-0 lead to start the game.
According to Churubusco Head Coach Jamie Perlich, the teamâs lack of readiness was apparent from tip-off.
âWe didnât come out focused. We had a good practice last night and we didnât carry that over. We started out flat,â Perlich said.
Joan R. Sollazzo, 75, a resident of Churubusco and widow of Columbus John Sollazzo, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at the Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne. She had been a patient there for the past two years.
Mrs. Sollazzo was born in Fort Wayne on Jan. 30, 1936, a daughter of Raymond and Wava (Brandt) Stilwell, and spent her formative years there.
On July 3, 1964, she was married in Fort Wayne to Columbus John Sollazzo. The couple spent the first months of their marriage in Fort Wayne before moving to Churubusco in 1965.
Cheryl L. McDevitt, 56, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:44 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at her home.
Born July 9, 1955, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Robert Leon and Gloria Jean (Watson) Gibson.
A lifetime Columbia City resident, she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the class of 1973 and Ravenscroft Beauty College in 1980.
On June 3, 1973, she was united in marriage to Keith D. McDevitt at Faith Baptist Church, by Pastor Morris Scutt.
Grace L. Dubach, 86, Berne, died Thursday morning, Nov. 24, 2011 at Swiss Village.
She was born to Solomon and Velma (Burley) Mosser on Dec. 19, 1924.
Survivors include her husband, Glen, three sons and one daughter; Wallace Dubach, Columbia City, Lynn Dubach, Berne, Robert Dubach, Berne and daughter, Rebecca Gaskill Farmington Hills, Mich. and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Bryan, brothers, Solomon âBudâ, Arden, and Hugh David âDavyâ Mosser and sisters, Elizabeth Stamm, Lavon Moore, and Catherine Knapp.
Wayne A. Rekeweg, 63, of Fort Wayne, died Nov. 26, 2011 at Parkview Hospital.
Born Feb. 12, 1948, in Fort Wayne, he was a 1966 graduate of Woodland High School.
Wayne was also a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, recognized with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
He worked at General Motors as a Millwright and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Janna C. (Speck) Miller, 38, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011.
Born May 20, 1973, in Fort Wayne, Janna was a homemaker and worked in the insurance and mortgage industry.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister.
