Harry W. Hart, 70, of Cromwell, formerly of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born Oct. 7, 1940 to Wesley and Wilhelamine (Strong) Hart in Norfolk, Neb. He served in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Michele; a son, Jason Hart; a brother, John Hart; and a sister, Patricia Jones.
COLUMBIA CITY â The man arrested for operating a rolling methamphetamine lab in Whitley County last November was sentenced to 12 years in prison in Whitley County Circuit Court Tuesday.
Wayne Lynn Weaver, 40, was called a poor probation risk by Whitley County Circuit Court Judge James Heuer, who touted âmultiple aggravating circumstancesâ in issuing the stiff sentence for manufacturing the drug.
Defense attorney Brad Voelz pleaded for leniency, reporting Weaver to have been making personal progress since his incarceration Nov. 16, 2010.
COLUMBIA CITY â The Columbia City woman charged with drug crimes and the neglect of a dependent will face trial in June.
Janel M. Creech, 36, has been in the Whitley County jail since Jan. 11 after being charged Jan. 7 with manufacturing methamphetamine and other drug-related offenses.
The drug-related charges were filed after emergency personnel responded to a 911 call on Jan. 3 in which Creechâs 5-month-old daughter, Taylor, was rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
FORT WAYNE — It didn’t take long Wednesday night for junior Wildcat Logan Irwin to seal his spot atop the record books at Whitko High School.
With 6:54 remaining in the first quarter, a baseline jump shot made Irwin the new all-time points leader at Whitko.
According to sources, Irwin had the record Saturday at Churubusco in a 26-point performance against the Eagles.
FORT WAYNE — After Wednesday night Whitko boys’ basketball is in damage control.
Despite seeing maybe its most prestigious record, Whitko has been on the worst stretch of the season.
After battling back from as much as 13 points down, the Wildcats surrendered their third consecutive loss as the buzzer sounded at Carroll 54-53.
