Lady ’Cats rally to win from 1-0 deficit

SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s volleyball team and its fresh set of sophomores began the season in prime fashion Tuesday night against Lakeland.
After a rocky start, the Lady Wildcats defeated Lakeland 4-1.
“They did an awesome job coming from behind.” Whitko Head Coach Brandy Smith said. “It was a great way to start the season and build our confidence.”
The Lady ’Cats got off to a shaky start, falling behind by as much as seven in the first game and losing 25-19.

Col. City debuts with 7-1 win over Central Noble

COLUMBIA CITY – The Columbia City boys soccer team joined its Lady Eagle counterparts by opening the 2011 season with a decisive victory.
The team, who was visiting the Central Noble Cougars, finished the game with a final score of 7-1.
“I think we’ve definitely seen some of our strengths and weaknesses. We have a lot to work to do,” said Keener. ”I’d like to see a lot more teamwork so we can possess the ball and shake the opponent early in the game.”
