COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City tennis team used its confidence from the shut out to Churubusco Tuesday night to carry the team to a close 3-2 win over Warsaw.
The win came down to the final set, No. 2 doubles match, Matt Rethlake and Brandon Gay.
Columbia City Coach Marcus Moore said the team and fans surrounded the court to cheer the pair to victory.

SOUTH WHITLEY— Whitko tennis’ 2011 season got off to a rough start Tuesday evening.
The Wildcats hosted Fort Wayne Northrop, losing 5-0.
“It was the first varsity match for a lot of these players,” Whitko Head Coach Kory Mettler said. “I expected us to be a little nervous.”
With a team led by sophomores, Mettler says getting experience is key.

AUBURN — The Columbia City cross country team had its first meet Tuesday at Dekalb.
Samantha Roush led the girls’ and boys’ teams with a second place finish at the Baron Classic.
“We ran pretty well for the first meet,” Cross Country Coach Bob Fahl said.

COLUMBIA CITY — The family of Tyler Andreas has established a memorial scholarship fund in remembrance of the Columbia City High School student who passed away unexpectedly this summer.
A member of the Columbia City High School football team, Tyler possessed a remarkable work ethic. It is this character trait that his family has chosen to honor by establishing this award.
