FORT WAYNE â€” The Lady Eagle soccer team traveled to Fort Wayne Thursday night to play Southside.
Though Columbia City lost, in a 3-0 shutout, the Lady Eagles used the game as a learning experience.
â€śSouthside is a very different team than we faced last year,â€ť Columbia City Head Coach Nicole Gebfert said. â€śLast year they were quick and aggressive. This year, they were quick, aggressive and had talent.â€ť
Gebfert said the game wasnâ€™t a total loss, as the team showed improvement from the first half to the second.
LARWILL â€” Whitko honored its seniors Thursday night against Rochester.
Though the Wildcats lost 6-3 to the Zebras, the â€™Cats won a bigger battle before the season started, getting an IHSAA sanctioned soccer team at Whitko.
Before action got underway Thursday night, Whitko honored its three seniors; Scott Paulus, Jordan Sims and Jacob Ray.
Head Coach Jason Ehrman spoke about the graduating seniors and the impact they had on the program.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” The Columbia City Lady Eagles volleyball team came into Thursdayâ€™s Northeast Hoosier Conference match with the visiting New Haven Lady Bulldogs looking to run the table of this weekâ€™s matches.
After downing Blackhawk Christian Monday and NHC opponent Norwell Tuesday, the Columbia City was prepared to improve to 3-0 in the conference.
The Lady Eagles fought through an inconsistent effort to come from behind in the fifth and final game in a 3-2 marathon win over the Bulldogs, remaining unbeaten in conference play.
