COLUMBIA CITY â€” SRI Incorporated, a firm that conducts tax sales, deed sales, and foreclosure sales on the Internet or in-person for local government clients, extended its partnership with Whitley County Tuesday regarding an upcoming tax sale.
SRI President Tim Rushenberg appeared before the Whitley County Board of Commissioners to present three contracts necessary to conduct the sale.
ALBION â€“ Denise Lemmon, of rural Albion formally filed Wednesday her intent to seek the Republican nomination for State Representative in the newly formed 82nd State House district.
The new 82nd State House district covers all of Noble County, as well as portions of Allen, Whitley, Elkhart, and LaGrange counties.
Lemmonâ€™s declaration of candidacy will be filed with the County Clerkâ€™s Offices of each of the districtâ€™s counties prior to being submitted to the Indiana Election Division.
Emanuel Geiger will be 100 years old Jan. 16, 2012.
On Sunday, Jan. 22, an open house will be held in his honor, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Churubusco Nazarene Church Christian Life Center, 1000 W. Whitley St., in Churubusco.

Geiger was born in Rome City on Jan. 16, 1912 to Emanuel A. and Matilda (McCoy) Geiger. He was the yougest of nine children.
Emanuel Geiger married Mabel M. (Cotton) April 17, 1929. She is deceased.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Richard K. Bishop, 74, of Columbia City, died at 10:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at The Oaks Living Center.
He was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Chicago, a son of William and Helen (Blain) Bishop.
On July 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sondra Kay Simpson.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Mary E. Leazier, 84, formerly of Big Lake, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since June 2008.
She was born July 16, 1927, in Huntington, a daughter of John L. and Louise K. (Stark) Slusser Sr.
In 1944, her family moved to Big Lake from Huntington. She completed her education at Wolf Lake High School.
During World War II, she worked at General Electric. She was also employed at South Whitley Products, Wolf Lake Products and Knapp Lake Products.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Carol â€śDarleneâ€ť Kneller, age 83, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Parkview Oaks Nursing Home, Columbia City.
Born Dec. 14, 1928, in Syracuse, she was the daughter of Chester and Margaret (Poscharscky) Miller.
She graduated from Syracuse High School with the class of 1947.
She has been a resident of Whitley County since her marriage to Jack L. Kneller on Feb. 14, 1948, in Syracuse. She retired from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Columbia City, as a clerk.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Daniel Rosas Torres, 85, of Columbia City, passed away at 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Born on March 20, 1926, in Hondo, Texas, he was the son of Frutoso and Maria Rita (Rosas) Torres.
He was raised in Texas and in 1948 moved to Columbia City.
His first marriage was to Celia â€śSallyâ€ť Martinez in 1948 in Eagle Pass, Texas and his second marriage was to Anna Marie Karolina Pohl on June 7, 1984 in North Carolina.
Hazel Eloise Kemery Kotrba, 80, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Golden Living Center, Lansing, Kan.
Mrs. Kotrba was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Columbia City to parents Chauncey and Susie Kemery.
She traveled extensively in the United States and later resided in West Germany. She moved to Leavenworth, Kan., where she lived with her daughterâ€™s family since December, 1983.
Mrs. Kotrba worked and volunteered at various places and church organizations. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Leavenworth, Kan.
Angelo L. Marcano, 48, of Fort Wayne, died at 5:22 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, in Cleveland.
He was born in Southbridge, Mass. Dec. 27, 1963, a son of Carlos and Felicita (Cruz) Marcano. On Oct. 15, 2006, he was married in Fort Wayne to Rebecca â€śBeckyâ€ť Marcano. She survives.
The Whitley County Plan Commission will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the lower level conference room of the Whitley County Government Center.
On the agenda is the election of 2012 officers, and discussion regarding the potential wind ordinance.
