NEW HAVEN — Columbia City’s girls basketball team began the 2011-12 season expected to finish at the bottom of the conference.
Lady Eagle Head Coach Amy Shearer had different plans for the team, making the team’s goal to prove the polls wrong.
“We were not going to finish last in the conference, that was a big goal for us after the polls came out,†Shearer said.
With Saturday’s 55-34 win over New Haven, Col. City finished the season 3-4 in the NHC, good for a fifth-place finish out of eight teams.
ALBION — The Churubusco Lady Eagle basketball team, fresh off a win over South Adams that broke an eight-game losing streak, traveled to Northeast Corner Conference foe Central Noble with the two-fold intent of extending their own winning streak and keeping the 0-17 Lady Cougars winless.
It took every minute of regulation and four minutes of overtime for ‘Busco to accomplish both feats in a come-from-behind 49-45 win.

Starting Tuesday expect highs in the low 50s and upper 40s through mid-week with some precipitation. After that, temperatures "drop" to the low 40s and 30s.
Not bad for late January and early February in Northeast Indiana!
