Billy L. Ottinger, 80, of Columbia City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. He was a farmer and worked at GE for 25 years.
Billy was born May 27, 1932 in Whitley County, the son of Haven and Fay (Fairchild) Ottinger.
On Oct. 24, 1953, he married Shirley Ann Hyser at St. Catherineâs Catholic Church in Columbia City. She passed away June 4, 2009.
Patricia Lee Sievers, 74, of Columbia City, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at her home.
Born July 10, 1938, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Glenn and Izetta âSisâ (Coy) Cearbaugh.
A lifelong resident of Columbia City, she graduated with the class of 1956 from Columbia City High School.
On March 3, 1956, she married Donald E. Sievers in Columbia City. For 30 years, she worked at Weatherhead Corporation (DANA) of Columbia City. She was a member of Graceland Ministries, Columbia City.
COLUMBIA CITY â The Blue River Trail extension project is rolling along as Niblock Excavating and Hamilton Hunter anticipate good progress in the coming months.
âBoth parties hope to make significant progress and potentially finish the project yet this calendar year,â said Columbia City Community Development Director Jeff Walker last week.
âThe bridge will be erected on-site. However, if the trail doesnât get finished before next spring, the bridge will remain closed to pedestrian traffic.â

Capturing memories and encapsulating history in photos is what the Whitko Community Digital Image Project is working to do.
For the past two years, Joan Hostetler, in collaboration with her company, Heritage Photo and Research Services, has been partnering with the South Whitley and Pierceton libraries to scan historical photographs.
SOUTH WHITLEY â After battling through a neck-and-neck first set, Columbia Cityâs volleyball team squashed DeKalb in the second set of the championship game at Whitkoâs volleyball invitational Saturday.
The Lady Eagles were undefeated in pool play, only losing one set to Prairie Heights earlier in the day.
The first set of the final game was back-and-forth between DeKalb and Columbia City, being tied multiple times throughout.
DeKalb prepared for its set point, but the Eagles held strong, scoring after a long volley with a sharp kill.
