INCUMBENTS SWEEP COUNCIL

November 7, 2012


COLUMBIA CITY — Three Whitley County Council incumbent Republicans, Paula Reimers, William (Bill) Overdeer and Thomas Western swept the election Tuesday for seats on the county council.
The incumbents were running against Democrats Greg Racioppi, Wes Pease and Steven Heaston.

Goals: “I’m looking forward to remaining on the council. I’ve enjoyed the challenges that come with the job. I’ve been very active with the Redevelopment Commission. What they do is try to attract industries that bring jobs, and I’d like to continue to do that.”

MIXED BAG: Hoosiers elect Dems, Republicans for top state offices

Indiana voters’ independent streak was on display Tuesday, as the mostly conservative state chose Republicans Mitt Romney for president and Mike Pence as Governor, but rejected a conservative Senate candidate and education official.
Though Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock upset longtime Senator Richard Lugar in the primary, a series of missteps led to a Democratic choice in Joe Donnelly, who won by a four-percent margin.

COLUMBIA CITY — Some are disappointed. Some are excited. Some are indifferent.
Regardless if a person is Republican, Democrat or Independent, Tuesday’s election will affect the lives of citizens across the U.S.
Though President Barack Obama won by nearly 100 electoral votes, Whitley County’s turnout didn’t match up with the rest of the country.
58.24 percent of Whitley County voted for Governor Mitt Romney, while 29.41 percent chose Obama.
