Lester and Doris Sheets are retired and living in Columbia City. The young couple bought a funeral home in 1950 located on Main Street in Churubusco from Frances and Dasie Sonday.
COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City man was arrested on sexual misconduct with a minor charges this week after an anonymous report was filed with the Department of Child Services.
Rodney Scott, 19, of 413 Park Terrace, was detained after an investigation by Columbia City Police Captain Tony Hively. The report stated a possible inappropriate sexual relationship between a child, age 14, and an adult male was ongoing. Scott admitted to the accusations in an interview with Hively, stating that both sexual intercourse and oral sex occurred.
COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Health Department and Whitley County schools are on the alert for measles after the Indiana State Department of Health recently confirmed 13 cases in Central Indiana. No cases have been reported in Whitley County since the outbreak affected residents of Boone and Hamilton counties.
Lisa Hatcher, health officer for the Whitley County Health Department, said the best advice she can give people who believe they have measles is to stay home and call their physician.
SOUTH WHITLEY — Firefighters from at least three departments were called late Saturday morning to respond to a fire at South Whitley’s Kent Theatre, located at 220 S. State St.
Fighting the blaze through the afternoon and into the evening, firefighters were still on scene as of 7 p.m. tonight.
