LONDON—In July of 2011, 16-year-old Columbia City High School student Jade Shopell attended a UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) cheer camp and was selected as an All American.
This awarded her the opportunity to fly with All Americans from all over the United States to London, England on an eight-day trip, culminating in their appearance in London’s New Year’s Day Parade.
The All Americans were divided into three groups. Each group was sent a DVD of a dance mix they were to learn and perform along the parade route.
COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Recorders Office is continuing to update its record keeping system for the digital world, giving the public easier, more efficient access to its records.
Currently, the office’s more recent records are searchable and viewable on a program called Laredo, a product of Fidlar Technologies, a powerful land records conversion and search system.
The company provides services which scan, convert, enhance and import land records into the system which is accessible to the public both online or in the Recorder’s Office.
LARWILL — A 14.3 percent sewer rate increase is looming on the horizon for Larwill residents as town council members voted unanimously to pursue in Thursday evenings meeting. It has been seven years since the town has experienced a sewer increase.
According to Clerk-Treasurer Renee Sills, the 2012 sewer budget is $60,420 compared to $68,411.96 in 2011.
“We spent $58,270.30 in 2011 which is a $10,141.66 overflow of cash,” Sills said. “With the 2012 budget at $60,420, we only have a cash flow left over of $2,537.79 and that is if we spend like we did last year.”
