COLUMBIA CITY - It's Whitley County's time to choose "the best" in numerous categories in The Post and Mail's popular annual Readers' Choice balloting that begins today.
An entry ballot flyer is inserted in today's newspaper. The official ballot will be inserted again Tuesday, March 20 and Tuesday, March 27. The ballot is also located under the Special Sections tab on the newspaper's website: www.thepostandmail.com
Deadline for the newspaper to receive completed ballots is at the end of the business day Friday, March 30.
Columbia City's parks and streets have been full of people this week with temperatures on the rise.
COLUMBIA CITY — Some of the city’s departments are shifting sails a bit in preparation of spring, none more so than the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Park Director Mark Green said with the weather change, Morsches Park has seen steady and consistent traffic recently, keeping the park busy. The department has also been working on playing fields in anticipation of holding softball practice soon.
Registration for softball will close with a registration session Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Boys Minor baseball evaluation will occur at 1 p.m. and Boys Major is at 2:30.
CHURUBUSCO — Since 1887 the Churubusco/Smith Township Fire Department has been “Bustin’ Ours to Save Yours,” according to the department’s motto. Soon the department will be rewarded with a brand new facility.
The CSGFD is currently housed in the former town hall in an antiquated building. Later this spring, a new fire station is going to be built at 805 Johnny Krieger Drive. The address is currently a soccer field on the northwest side of the Churubusco Town Park.
