COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Commissioner Don Amber crossed into Allen County Thursday to chime in on an issue in Huntertown he felt could affect the people of his home county. Huntertown officials are mulling the possibility of building a $11.2 million wastewater treatment plant.
The town currently pumps its sewage to Fort Wayne. Amber is concerned about the amount of treated sewage that would make its way into the Eel River, which flows into Whitley County.
Monday marked the second anniversary of 14-year-old Kaylin Doggendorf’s death, as her body was found less than a mile from her Pierceton home on March 19, 2010. Doggendorf, a Whitko Middle School student at the time, was murdered by 17-year-old Joshua Wright who is currently serving a 100-year sentence. Wright admitted to police that he killed Doggendorf after he broke into her house early Thursday morning, March 18, 2010.
