Col. City boys, girls take fourth

NEW HAVEN — The Northeast Hoosier Conference Track and Field Meet had some expected outcomes Tuesday night.

Both the as-expected closely-contested girls’ competition, where second through sixth places were separated by only 28 points, and the favored Carroll boys held off host New Haven and Homestead to join the Carroll girls as team champions.

But there were also some surprises, as an improving Columbia City boys team more than doubled its point total from last year to take fourth.

HODGES GETS GOP TREASURER NOD: County primary results tabulated

COLUMBIA CITY — Republican candidate for Whitley County Treasurer Laurell Hodges defeated Cindy (Greer) Doolittle to become the Republican candidate for Whitley County Treasurer in Tuesday's primary election.
Hodges received 44.34 percent of the vote (3,909) to Doolittle's 39.09 percent (1,999). Tammy Plew finished third with 747 votes, or 16.57 percent of the vote.
In the race for three at-large slots on the Whitley County Council, all three Republican incumbents held on to represent their party in the November election.
