Editorâs note: The following is the first of a four part series in honor of Fatherâs Day.
COLUMBIA CITY â John Slavich is known as one of the faces of the Whitley County Community Foundation, but to his five children he is known as âDad.â
This father is somewhat of a âsuper dad.â Having two teenage kids in his 50âs will make him a superhero to any young parent.
Lowell Elden Sidwell (Sid), 81, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at his home, in Columbia City, surrounded by family.
Sidâs many successful business accomplishments include the opening of âSidâs Barbershopâ on Wells Street in 1957, âNew Look Auto Body Shopâ in 1969, and the âFish of Stroh Restaurantsâ starting in 1973.
COLUMBIA CITY â Do you have a few â or perhaps a collection â of old postcards from Whitley County?
If so, The Post & Mail would like you to share them in a special community project.
âWish You Were Here . . . Historic Postcards from Whitley County, Ind.â is the project that will be completed during the next six to eight weeks.
The final result will be publication of a special âcoffee tableâ book that will contain about 100 pages, printed on 70# paper, perfect bound with a colorful laminated cover.
