C.L. Boggs, 70, a lifelong resident of Etna Troy Township, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his home of natural causes.
He was born April 28, 1942, in Etna, a son of Heber and Dortha E. (Beers) Boggs. He graduated from Larwill High School.
He worked at B.F. Goodrich, Harvester and Lynn Klingaman before beginning his employment with Essex, retiring from Dana PTG in 2005.
In October 1995, he married Penny A. Rodgers.
COLUMBIA CITY â The Common Council of Columbia City agreed to amend the Zoning Ordinance revising Chapter Eight Flood Hazard Overlay District at their meeting Tuesday.
David Sewell, the executive director of the joint planning and building department, said Columbia Cityâs Plan Commission recommended the approval of the amendment to Floodplain regulations in the Zoning Ordinance to make them consistent with state and federal requirements.
RICCIONE, Italy â Local swimmer Susan Rothert Meyers competed in the 2012 Final World Masters Championships in Riccione, Italy this week. She finished in the top three in her events in the 70-74 age group.
In her first race on Tuesday, she placed third in a field of 17 in the 400-meter individual medley. On Wednesday, Meyers swam the 200-meter individual medley, placing third in a field of 20.
In the 100-meter butterfly, Meyers placed second in a field of 15.
COLUMBIA CITY â Mayor Ryan Daniel announced today the city is issuing a ban on open burning . âDue to the lack of rain and for the protection of the residents of Columbia City, the fire department and Mayor Daniel have established a fire ban within the city limits,â said the city press release. âThe ban means no recreational fireworks or burning of campfires will be allowed within the city limits until further notice.â
