COLUMBIA CITY Ââ€” Passages, Inc. was recently notified that it is the recipient of a $75,000 grant from the Dekko Foundation.
For more than half a century, Passages has been dedicated to helping people with intellectual disabilities or other challenges thrive in the community at work, at home and at play.
The grant from Dekko will go toward the Passagesâ€™ capital campaign.
The funds from the capital campaign will be used to remodel the former Lehmberg Medical Office Building, now known as the Passagesâ€™ Creative Learning Center.
Larry Lee Raichart, 69, of rural Roanoke, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born April 1, 1943, in Fort Wayne, a son of Clarence and Altha (Simons) Raichart.
His formative years were spent in Whitley County. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1961.
He began working for Connerâ€™s Chevrolet in Roanoke and then Dana Spicer Axle in Fort Wayne where he retired after 30 years of service.
1965, he married Gloria J. Utterback. They have always made their home in Whitley County. She died June 12, 1978.
