COLUMBIA CITY â€” The Columbia City Board of Works established additional days for citizens to shoot off consumer grade fireworks at its meeting Tuesday.
According to Columbia City Fire Chief Tom LaRue, fireworks can be set off Friday, Sept. 21, Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23 at specific times on those dates.
â€śThe time frames would be that Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.,â€ť said LaRue.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” As of Tuesdayâ€™s Columbia City Council meeting, Mayor Ryan Daniel said the city has received more than 70 surveys concerning Burnworth Memorial Pool. With feedback rolling in, the city plans to obtain even more opinions at the upcoming Fall Festival.
â€śThatâ€™s really taken off right now,â€ť said Park Director Mark Green. â€śWeâ€™re getting a lot of feedback and thatâ€™s what weâ€™re after, to kind of get what people are thinking about that topic.â€ť
Plow Day cancelled
The annual Plow Day event in South Whitley has been cancelled this year. The committee has already planned that the 2013â€™s Plow Day will be on Friday at Roy and Mary Rubrakeâ€™s Farm in South Whitley. Be prepared for a wonderful day in the country.
A benefit for James M. Beck will be Friday and Saturday, at 6 p.m. at Four Dâ€™s Bar and Grill, 1820 W. Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne.
James M. Beck. Beck passed away Aug. 11 in a drowning accident at Old Lake in Columbia City. The benefit, held in Beckâ€™s honor is for those 21 years old and older.
