COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City advanced a proposed Salary Range Ordinance on first reading, moving it to second reading at the Columbia City Common Council meeting Tuesday.
According to the ordinance, Indiana Code requires the mayor to fix the compensation of each appointive officer, deputy and other employees of the city departments, excluding police officers and firefighters, prior to Nov. 1 for the subsequent budget year upon the approval of the council.
“I think it’s an appropriate range,” said Mayor Ryan Daniel.
COLUMBIA CITY — The 2013 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) Budget was approved by the Columbia City Common Council at its meeting Tuesday.
The budget included money for communications, curb/sidewalk, the park and pool, street, unplanned projects and WCEDC.
For the park and pool, $90,000 was approved by the CIP committee for the Morsches Park bathroom facility.

NORTH MANCHESTER — Manchester hosted Whitko and Columbia City at Sycamore Golf Course in North Manchester Thursday. The Lady Squires fired a 182 to win. Columbia City placed second with 200 and Whitko shot a 217.
Manchester posted three scores sub-50, including medalist Lindsay Budnik’s 40. Of the Whitley County School’s, Jackie Leeuw scored the best with a 47, followed by Jessica Klemm with a 48.
Cheyenne Johnson scored a 51, Allison Yoder finished with a 52 and Macenzie Lane had a 53. Sydney Ford was Columbia City’s No. 6 with a 57.
