DRUG CHARGE: Indy woman pleads guilty

COLUMBIA CITY — Sue Kel-lems, 21, pleaded guilty Monday to charges relating to August’s drug sting in Churubusco. She is ordered to appear for sentencing Oct. 22.
Kellems was arrested Aug. 23, along with Damond McCauley, 18, Brian Tracy, 37 and Trent Wilson, 23.
According to a Whitley County Drug Task Force case report, an officer was tipped off to a drug buy of several types of prescription drugs.
According to the report, the four Indianapolis residents met the buyer at a location in Churubusco, and they were paid $850.

WARSAW: Man gets 12 years for Larwill incident

COLUMBIA CITY — A Warsaw man, 36-year-old Trever Hanlon, was sentenced in Whitley County Circuit Court Monday to 12 years for charges relating to an out of control rolling methamphetamine lab near Larwill in April.
According to the plea agreement, the sentences imposed will be served concurrent with one another.
Hanlon pleaded guilty back in August to manufacture of methamphetamine, a Class B felony, possession of two or more “precursors,” or ingredients used to make the drug, a Class D felony and maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony.

THINK TWICE: Task force program addresses prominent teen issues

COLUMBIA CITY — Teenagers gathered together Sundayto learn how to make the most out of the one life they have to live. “You Only Live Once...So Think Twice,” was an initiative sponsored in part by the Whitley County Domestic Violence Task Force.
Students and their parents were educated on sexting and the legalities and consequences when becoming involved in sexting. Chynna Presley, with Youth For Christ, gave the presentation. She warned teens that becoming involved in sexting not only sets them up for legal liability, but puts them in danger physically.
