Doris W. Craig, 79, a resident of rural Churubusco and widow of Donald E. Craig, passed away at 4:09 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013. Mrs. Craig was born on July 21, 1933, in Allen County, a daughter of Charles and Vera (Bair) Dafforn.
The surviving relatives include a daughter, two sons, a sister, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Dwayne Berna of the Merriam Christian Chapel, officiating.
Robert F. Strupp , 83, of Columbia City, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he worked as a communications installer with General Telephone for 22 years, retiring in 1991.
He had been a resident of Woodburn for 15 years. He was a member of American Legion post 377 of Woodburn.
Surviving relatives include his son, John (Melinda) Strupp of Columbia City, grandchildren, Joshua Eby, Sonya Eby, James Eby and Jarrod Eby and a great-granddaughter, Cassey Woods.
Mary Lee Campbell, 79, formerly of Columbia City, died at 1:58 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Kent City, Mich. a daughter of Harry B. and Leona May (Riddle) Kelly. She graduated from Kent City High School.
James E. Bennett, 64, of Watson Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the William W. Backus Hospital with his family at his side.
On June 30, 1948, he was born in Columbia City, the son of Charles E. Bennett and the late Dorothy (Rock) Bennett.
James grew up in Indiana, graduated from Columbia City Joint High School and attended Purdue University for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1968, serving as a machinistâ€™s mate aboard the USS Archerfish.
