WHS hosts leadership group focusing on teamwork

SOUTH WHITLEY — December’s session of Leadership Whitley County, a group comprised of community members working on leadership, communication and servant skills, convened at the media center of Whitko High School in South Whitley.

The workshop was hosted by LWC Alum Patty Weybright, and began with an awareness session featuring a panel of local non-profit organizations.

College savings discussed at Rotary meeting

Jodi Golden, a representative for College Choice 529, was the guest speaker at Tuesday’s Rotary Club meeting in Columbia City.

She came from Indianapolis to discuss the Choice 529 plan and its direct savings program set up to offer parents a planned way of providing for someone’s future educational needs.

NHES students give back

City trash schedule to be adjusted for Christmas, New Year

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City officials have announced a revised trash pick up schedule during the holiday season.Due to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day trash pickup will fall one day later in the week.

Trash that would normally be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 25 will be serviced Thursday, Dec. 26. Trash pickup will continue to run a day behind with Friday’s service bumped to Saturday.

The following week, the schedule will be repeated — trash service will run a day behind starting with Thursday, Jan. 2. Both weeks will have trash pick up on Saturday.

Thomas McCullough, 80

December 18, 2013

Thomas McCullough, 80, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Dekalb Health in Auburn.
He was born in Whitley County to John Thomas and Marion Etta (Rosenogle) McCullough on Dec. 29, 1932.
He honorably served his country from 1950-53 in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On June 11, 1954, he married Judith Hire at Nazarene Church in Churubusco. He retired from Dana Corporation with more than 42 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering, his grandchildren and friends at Dari-Point in Ligonier.
