COLUMBIA CITY â€” Deciding to tackle the planning of a major event was nothing Gretchen Woods would have seen herself doing before now. However, an initiative launched by her employer started Woods on a journey to pay tribute to soldiers in the area.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” High school conference alignments could take another major turn later this week.
It was announced in April that the Northeast Hoosier Conference (NHC) would disband in 2015 and members would seek other affiliations.
Now, a meeting is set for this Wednesday which will include Columbia City and five other current NHC schools: Bellmont, DeKalb, East Noble, Norwell and New Haven. Those six schools will meet with four other schools to discuss a possible new conference.
According to a local newspaper, the four schools are Leo, Huntington North, Angola and Concordia.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” A South Whitley woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.
Police and firemen were called to the area of Ind. 5 and County Road 1000 South at 1 a.m. Sunday, after a van was found in a field.
Elyse Edsall, 26, of South Whitley, was ejected from her vehicle after she rolled it four times.
Columbia City's baseball team's sectional game that was scheduled to be played this afternoon has been delayed to tomorrow.
The Eagles will instead play Snider at Carroll High School at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in the sectional semifinals.
