Willodean Grawcock Hines, 88, a resident of Fort Wayne and a native of Churubusco, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Syracuse. She had been in failing health since May and had entered the nursing home Saturday.
Willodean was born on Aug. 17, 1924, in Churubusco, a daughter of Leslie and Mary Agnes (Spacy) Grawcock.
She spent her formative years there and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1941.
Delores C. Haggenjos, 94, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fort Wayne, Delores was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the Rosary Sodality and Daughters of Isabell.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading and spending time with family.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Residents of Whitley County, particularly Columbia City, will see a rise in some of their taxes in the coming year.
Whitley Countyâ€™s Council approved the reestablishment of the countyâ€™s Cumulative Capital Fund for the coming year. The near-doubling of the rate will amount to approximately $30 per $100,000 of assessed value. The council enacted this increase to pay for bridge work around the county.
