COLUMBIA CITY — It is homecoming week, and Columbia City’s football team will try to put a difficult loss in the past.
The Eagles fell to Homestead last week, 20-7, in a game with a couple of missed opportunities.
To shake that disappointment off, Columbia City welcomes DeKalb for homecoming in a game with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Eagles are 2-2 entering the game and 1-1 in the Northeast Hoosier Conference. DeKalb is winless.
Last year, Columbia City rolled up a 62-10 victory against the Barons. DeKalb’s last win over the Eagles was a 27-13 triumph in 2008.
SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s football team is on a two-game winning streak and hopes to keep the trend going Friday.
The Wildcats sit in a tie with Rochester at 2-0 atop the Three Rivers Conference. At 2-2 overall, Whitko will hit the road to take on Wabash Friday with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Whitko rolled over Manchester 46-24 last week. The Apaches, who are winless on the year, lost last week to North Miami 21-0.
The Wildcats have the edge in the rivalry with the Apaches. Whitko had a 51-19 win last year, and has not lost to Wabash since the rivalry became annual in 2006.
WHITLEY COUNTY — Despite testing difficulties and internet connection issues, ISTEP+ results have been released for local schools.
The testing, which occurred earlier this year, was fraught with problems for students who took it online.
Test-takers had difficulty connecting to the server, and at other times, students would be kicked off of the testing website at random.
