Robert C. Miller, 84, of Plymouth died at 12 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth. He had been in declining health for a couple of years.
Born May 22, 1926 in Columbia City, he was a son of William and Margaurite (Klingaman) Miller. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1944 and served honorably and proudly in the U.S. Army in Europe from Sept. 6, 1944 to June 21, 1946 during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star for bravery while serving.
FORT WAYNE — With a new head coach and system, Columbia City girls’ basketball has not skipped a beat in 2010.
The Lady Eagles have spent most of November winning by an average margin of 14.4 points per game.
Tuesday, Columbia City ended a 5-1 record in November with another blowout win on the road at Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger 46-32.
DECATUR — You have to go back five seasons for the last time Churubusco girls’ basketball had two wins in November.
Tuesday night, the Lady Eagles did it for just the second time in the last five years winning at Adams Central, 47-41.
The win is the first on the road this season for ’Busco. The last victory on the road for the Lady Eagles came back in February of 2009 at Hamilton.

COLUMBIA CITY — The Fort Wayne man and State Excise officer accused of staging the break-in of an Indiana State Excise Police evidence room in Columbia City had a preliminary plea of not guilty entered in Whitley County Superior Court Monday.
Aaron M. Bishop, 34, charged with theft and official misconduct, appeared in court for his preliminary hearing.
Judge Michael Rush entered the not guilty plea when Bishop said he wished to retain a lawyer to defend him on the charges.
A pre-trial conference was scheduled by Rush for 10:50 a.m. Dec. 28 at the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office.
COLUMBIA CITY — An officer with the Indiana Excise Police was to appear this afternoon before Judge Michael Rush in Whitley Superior Court for an initial hearing on theft and official misconduct charges while the Whitley County Circuit Court prepared for the second go-round of a child abuse and sexual misconduct with a minor trial that ended in a hung jury in August.
Aaron M. Bishop, 34, was arrested last week in connection with an Aug. 4 break-in of the Indiana Excise Police evidence room in Columbia City.
ALBION — A Columbia City man was killed and a Churubusco woman was injured in a single-car crash in Noble County Saturday morning.
Logan Templeton, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that occurred at 3:30 a.m. Saturday on County Road 500 South, east of County Road 100 East in Noble County, according to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department.
The passenger in the car, 38-year-old Amber R. Talbot of Churubusco, was flown to Parkview with back injuries.
Logan E. “Bubba” Templeton, 21, of Columbia City, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born June 23, 1989 to Carson E. and Tamera M. (Schinbeckler) Templeton.
A 2008 graduate of Churubusco High School, he was currently employed at C & A Tool as a machine mechanic since 2007. Logan was also enrolled at Ivy Tech Community College in the welding program. He was a lifetime resident of Whitley County and was active in FFA and 4-H for nine years.
Rev. Mr. Milton Webster Folds, Jr., 84, of Churubusco, passed away at 4:26 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at his residence. Born Feb. 6, 1926 in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of Milton Webster, Sr. and Jessie (Deacon) Folds.
He lived in Columbia City from 1982-1998 then from 1998-2009 he resided in Churubusco and Phoenix, Ariz. returning to Churubusco in 2009. He graduated from South Shore High School in Chicago with the Class of 1944 and received his Masters of Theology Degree from Notre Dame in 1975. On Aug. 15, 1950, he married Beverly J. East in St. John, Ind.
Margaret Heston, 94, of Albion, formerly of Portland and Crown Point, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 in Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
She was born in Portland, Feb. 2, 1916, a daughter of Harvey and Jesse (Wilson) Humphries. She was married Feb. 22, 1938 to Clayton Heston and he died Jan. 26, 1982.
She had worked for United Telephone Company, Artcraft Sporting Goods and Dunkirk Lumber Company. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Portland.
Tony L. Gaff, 91, of rural Larwill, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at Parkview Main, Fort Wayne where he had been admitted Nov. 21.
He was born April 6, 1919 in Whitley County, a son of Harry H. and Viva (Pippenger) Gaff. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School.
On April 9, 1944 he was united in marriage to E. Louise Hively, they made their home in Jefferson Township.
