Dian Ruth Wrightsman, 59, of rural South Whitley, died at 2:56 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Saint John‚Äôs Hospital, Anderson, where she was admitted Christmas Day while visiting family. She had been suffering from cancer.
She was born Oct. 23, 1953, in South Bend, the only child of James William and Evelyn (McClellan) Moore.Her formative years were spent in Albuquerque, N.M. and Daytona Beach, Fla. The family then returned to the Jimtown area.
Columbia City's boys basketball team is hosting Munster tonight at 8 p.m.
Both teams are 8-0 and Munster is ranked No. 5 in the state by the Associated Press.
Elsa Marie Rodriguez-Kahn, 50, of Fort Wayne, was called home after a courageous battle with cancer Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at home with her family by her side. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She worked at G.M. in the human resources department as a benefits representative.

The Petroskys have built their home around children adopted through the state‚Äôs foster program and now through an international adoption.

WHITLEY COUNTY ‚ÄĒ Residents of a southeast Whitley County home escaped the burning house without injury, but left their home heavily damaged.
The house, which was located between County Roads 300 and 400 E. on Ind. 114, was damaged by a fire which began in the chimney Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
Firefighters from Jefferson, Columbia and Washington townships in Whitley County responded to the blaze at 3391 E. Ind. 114, along with departments from Allen and Huntington Counties.
Christian James Yahr, infant son of Vicar Karl and Andrea Pfleghaar Yahr, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Children‚Äôs Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Christian was born Oct. 11, 2012, in Kansas City.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Theresa, Melissa and Samantha, all of Columbia City; his grandmothers, Alice Pfleghaar of Jordan, Minn. and Janice Yahr of Daytona Beach Fla.; his aunts, Sara Pfleghaar of Shakopee, Minn. and Kim (Phil) Cordova of North Platte Neb. and several cousins. ¬†
Charles E. Burelison, 81, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his home. Born April 20, 1931, in Eaton, he was the son of Elmer Virgil ‚ÄúJack‚ÄĚ and Lillian Esther (Mumaugh) Burelison.
He attended Northside High School, Fort Wayne and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On July 14, 1951, he married Barbara A. Middleton at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne and they have always lived in Whitley County. For 35 years he worked at Dana Corporation, Churubusco.
