The owners of the property in southwest Whitley County from which more than a dozen neglected horses were removed last week were arrested Wednesday and charged with neglect of a vertebrate animal for the second time in six years.
James and Cynthia Mullins will appear in court Monday to face one count each of felony neglect of a vertebrate animal. Thirteen starved horses and ponies were removed from their property on West County Road 200 South on Aug. 4.
In 2004, several malnourished horses were removed from the same property.
Two more businesses have signed on to lease space in Columbia City’s Towne & Country Shopping Center beginning this fall, one a retail store that’s new to the area and the other an employment service center that’s opening at a new location.
Sentry Properties has announced that Aaron’s will open in the 7,600 square foot store between Papa John’s and Fashion Bug. Aaron’s specializes in lease ownership and retailing of office furniture, consumer electronics and home appliances.
