PIERCETON — Six third-grade students from South Whitley Elementary School (SWES) who participated in the school’s swim program at the Whitley County Family YMCA, proudly led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Whitko Community School Corporation (WCSC) board of directors meeting this week.

COLUMBIA CITY — The transfer of 21 patients Thursday from Parkview Whitley Hospital’s former Oak Street address to the hospital’s new facility at the corner of Ind. 205 and U.S. 30 was highlighted with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the blessing of the new hospital and the transfer of the chapel Bible from the old facility.
The events marked the official opening of the hospital and the beginning of a new era in health care for Whitley County, according to a hospital officials.Â

COLUMBIA CITY — A Warsaw man was arrested Wednesday by a Kosciusko County sheriff’s deputy on an outstanding Whitley County warrant for dealing marijuana.
Robert William Hersha, 50, 522 E. CR 200 N., Warsaw, was taken into custody at 10:49 a.m. Wednesday for the class D felony.

FORT WAYNE — With hunting season in full swing throughout Indiana, Indiana State Police are warning hunters to be on the lookout for trash left behind by those who have manufactured methamphetamine.
The Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Section issued a reminder to citizens that this trash may contain chemicals that are toxic, flammable, corrosive and acidic.
