COLUMBIA CITY â The snow emergency in Whitley County was upgraded to a level two at 8 a.m. this morning as residents continue to dig out from this weekâs piling on of snow.
âWhitley County has upgraded to a level 2 snow emergency this morning,â said the Whitley County Board of Commissioners in a statement today.
âThe public needs to be aware that roadways are slick, snow covered and that some have not been cleared as of this morning.
âCounty highway crews have been working since 5 a.m. to get at least one pass on all roadways and will be out all day working on the roads.
COLUMBIA CITY â The snow storm this week put everyone in Whitley County and across much of the country on high-alert.
There were some who couldnât take shelter at home and wait out the blizzard in pajamas with a cup of hot cocoa.
âThere were so many stranded motorists,â said Cathy Broxon-Ball of the Whitley County Emergency Management/Department of Homeland Security.
âI guess everybody figures that police and emergency vehicles can just get to them in a matter of minutes, but we had so many responders that were getting stuck that, well, thatâs why we have these levels.â
Whitley County will drop from a Level 1 to a Level 2 snow emergency at 8 a.m. today.
