Kreig family reunited as SSGT Krieg comes home from Iraq deployment.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” A lady likes to make an entrance and Piper Krieg is no exception.
It almost seemed she orchestrated circumstances to assure she would be at the airport to meet her daddy when he returned home from Iraq after seven months away from home.
SSgt Scott Krieg is full-time active duty with the 122nd fighter wing security forces squadron based out of Fort Wayne. He lives with his wife Pam (Reed) Krieg and daughters in Columbia City when not deployed.
LAUD â€” Fire investigators were on the scene this morning of a house fire that destroyed a two-story home in southern Whitley County.
According to the Whitley County Sheriffâ€™s Department, a call came in at 7:36 p.m. Sunday night reporting a fire at the residence owned by Leland P. Harrington, 1696 East County Road 800 South.
Washington Township firefighters were dispatched. According to Washington Township Fire Chief Jeremy Hammel, the house was a total loss.
Hammel said the Whitley County Fire Investigation Team was dispatched this morning to investigate the cause of the fire.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” An alert Columbia City policeman located a truck stolen from the front of a city residence last week.
According to Columbia City Police Department Capt. Brian Anspach, Patrolman Jeff Chapman spotted the black 1999 Dodge pickup reported stolen Thursday from a residence on Holden Road.
Anspach said Chapman was patrolling in the area of Elm and Harrison streets around 4 a.m. Saturday when he saw the vehicle and called in the license plate number for confirmation.
