D-Day — 67 years later

COLUMBIA CITY — Gnarled hands, ravaged by decades of hard work, held the tiny silver pieces while weathered eyes that have seen both the gallantry and horror of war inspected the shiny medals.
It was a day of commemoration and reflection as the Whitley County Historical Society spearheaded a ceremony that honored local veterans of World War II, while marking the 67th anniversary of Operation Neptune, or the D-Day landings in Normandy, France.
