A tour of Parkview’s future

June 8, 2011

Randy Vondran, site superintendent for Hagerman, Inc. gives a tour Tuesday afternoon to employees of Parkview Whitley Hospital of the hospital’s new facility being built at the corner of Ind. 205 and U.S. 30. The staff tours are ongoing as construction of the new hospital continues, gearing Parkview Whitley for the expected “first patient day” of Oct. 20.

SOUTH WHITLEY — With determination and ongoing efforts of two South Whitley mothers, the town’s park will soon transform into a state of the art magical play land providing physical activity and excitement for children.
A ground breaking ceremony was held in the town park for phase I of Doodlebug Village on May 21.
In the past two years, Katey Till and Colleen French have been dedicating all their free time raising funds in order to provide the community with a play time dream.
The two mother’s successfully raised $65,000 towards phase I, along with $6,000 in pledges.

Former excise officer gets two years

COLUMBIA CITY — The former Indiana Excise officer accused of breaking into the unit’s Columbia City post back in August was sentenced Monday to two years in prison.
After initially pleading not guilty in November, Aaron Bishop, 34, changed his plea last month in Whitley County Superior Court.
He was charged with theft and official misconduct.
A Fort Wayne native, Bishop was given a sentence of two years in prison for stealing guns and money from the Indiana Excise Police evidence room.
