City mulls weather, open burning

COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City Board of Works and Safety met Friday to discuss several topics directly dealing with both temporary and permanent changes around the city.
The first topic brought before the board was a simple burn permit request; this turned the topic on the weather and burning in general.

City to take over mystery sewer

COLUMBIA CITY — There is a 600-foot stretch of sewer running underneath CR 600 E. and U.S. 30.
The line runs into the city and its equipment meets all of the specification requirements the city has for its tunnels.

Police pursue shooting range funding

COLUMBIA CITY – At last week’s meeting of the Whitley County Commissioners, Sheriff Mark Hodges submitted a request for funding to help complete construction on a shooting range.
Hodges said the building for such a range was approved in 2006.
