COLUMBIA CITY â While the Whitley County Salvation Army is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, the organization recently received pieces of its past from a local resident. The collection includes historical photos, memorabilia and memories of the organizationâs olden days, which will be used by the local Salvation Army as it begins compiling a memory book.
COLUMBIA CITY â Whitley County Consolidated Schools Superintendent Dr. Patricia OâConnor said construction workers have scratched the surface on Eagle Tech Academyâs Phase III project.
OâConnor said the project, which began in October, will open up enough classroom space to allow an additional 200 students at ETA for the next school year.
The project will also group the schoolâs offices, granting direct access to them through the public entrance.
âI think itâs going to be a real nice facility for the district, and something that the community can be proud of,â said OâConnor.
COLUMBIA CITY â Katrina Simpkins, a young celebrity from Columbia City, was on hand to introduce the movie, âDolphin Tale,â at Mary Raber Elementary Schoolâs movie night Friday.
Katrina is well known for her connections to Winter, the dolphin that inspired the movie âDolphin Tale,â released in 2011 by Warner Brothers.
