SOUTH WHITLEY â An error in the amount of $160,000 has caused South Whitley Town Council President Tony Starkey to scratch his head.
Clerk Treasurer Bob Gould informed the council at Tuesdayâs meeting of the error. âThere are erroneous numbers in the computer system that showed we had $160,000. We didnât have that money. I donât know where that dollar amount came from.â
Gould said when he discovered the error, funding categories needed to be redistributed and the $160,000 had to be deducted from various spending accounts.
COLUMBIA CITY â The Columbia City Common Council is reviewing an ordinance that may help to fill the old Scottâs building, located on the corner of Connexion Way and Armstrong Drive.
The council is working to offer incentives to promote growth in that area to aid businesses that might consider the building.
âThe building has been sitting vacant for five to six years now, and we know there is some very good potential for it,â said Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel.
SOUTH WHITLEY â South Whitleyâs Town Council approved the minutes from its Oct. 25 meeting, where the council moved forward with the townâs new energy contract with Indiana Municipal Power Agency.
The contract will replace the existing relationship with Duke Energy, saving the town of South Whitley an estimated $110,000 a year.
In other council business, Waste Managementâs contract for sludge hauling is soon to be expired.
