COLUMBIA CITY â What is the most fun you can have with a buzzer?
The answer, of course, is The Peabody Library Annual Jeopardy! Tournament now entering its ninth year. .
Call the library, 244-5541, and sign up now, either as a team or as an individual to be put on a team. The first round is on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m.. The tournament continues for the next several weeks (depending upon the number of teams) until a winner is crowned.

COLUMBIA CITY â Itâs official. Town Marshal Chad Fulkerson is the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Smith-Green Community Schools.
The Churubusco Town Council made the official decision recently to contribute funds to have Fulkerson at the school for four days out of five.
Fulkerson took training for the SRO duties at SGCS during the summer and has been at the school for three days out of five since August.
COLUMBIA CITY â Eighth grade students are âMinding their businesses.â
For the first time, Churubusco Junior High School students are taking part in a Project Based Learning (PBL) situation entitled âMind Your Business.â
Math teacher Jennifer Galloway heads up the program.
âI took a PBL workshop and the other teachers came aboard,â said Galloway.
Teaching the English part of the project is Vanessa Wyss. Rod Strayer teaches social studies and Laura Foss teaches the scientific method of the PBL project.
âWe have 96 students working on this project,â said Galloway.
CARROLL â The year-end wrestling tournament kicked off this weekend with all three Whitley County Schools competing in the Carroll Sectional.
Overall points determine only one team to move on to regionals; a fourth place finish or better on an individual level sends a matman to the next round.
Since 1993, the three schools have accounted for 12 of the 19 team wins at Carroll, including a run of eight straight by Columbia City.
Carroll, who claimed the title in six of the other seven years, won its own sectional with a point total of 187.50.

COLUMBIA CITY â Columbia City rising star Olivia Shearer is headed to the Elks Hoop Shoot state finals.
Shearer won her age division (10-11-year-olds) on Saturdayâs regional at Indian Springs Middle School.
She shot 20-for-25, good for her first-place finish.
The young hoopster has a break before competing at the state finals on Feb. 24 at New Castle.
Shearer said she practices shooting nearly every day with her mom, Columbia City Head Coach Amy Shearer.
She is also involved in a league at Spiece Fieldhouse in Fort Wayne, playing two games a week.
COLUMBIA CITY â If Whitley Countians think it's been a mild winter so far . . . well, be prepared for a warm-up!
Starting Tuesday expect highs in the low 50s and upper 40s through mid-week with some precipitation. After that, temperatures "drop" to the low 40s and 30s.
Not bad for late January and early February in Northeast Indiana!

Cleveland Township firemen respond to the scene of a house fire in Larwill Friday morning.
Columbia City's student section was colored blue Friday night for the boys basketball team's prostate cancer awareness night.
Doris Boggs had to wait awhile for her interview. Illness, a crazy start to the New Year, and a death in my family kept postponing our time together.
In typical Doris fashion, when I called to rescheduleâŠagainâŠshe said, âI was just praying and thinking about your family and the funeral ALL DAY during that awful weather.â
It felt wonderful to know Doris had been prayingâŠbut I was not surprised.
Doris was gracious, as usual, as she ushered me past her husband, Bob, and into the dining room area of her home. Bob and Doris have hung around together for a long timeâ65 years to be exact.
SOUTH WHITLEY â History came alive for fifth-grade students at South Whitley Elementary School earlier this week.
Kevin Stonerock gave the students a living history lesson.
Stonerock hails from central Indiana and has given more than 3,000 presentations since 1978.
Dressed in authentic period clothing, he had a high degree of historic authenticity with attention to detail and dialect.
The students studied the mid-1700s in their history classes.
