COLUMBIA CITY â€” Parkview Whitley Hospitalâ€™s nursing staff has received a national accolade, according to a hospital press release.
The hospital announced Friday it had been chosen as the recipient of the American Nurses Associationâ€™s (ANA) National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality for a Community Hospital in the year 2011. The award recognizes hospitals that improve patient outcomes and maintain high nurse job satisfaction, the hospital said, adding that the NDNQI is the nationâ€™s most comprehensive database of nursing performance measures.

COLUMBIA CITY â€” A Columbia City High School senior will soon be featured on television harvesting the trophy of a lifetime. Tanner Pfeiffer 18, of Columbia City, was hunting with his father, John, last October in Pampa, Texas when he shot a large whitetail deer with his high-powered rifle.
The hunt was filmed for a TV show called â€śThe Way Outfitters Adventures,â€ť which airs on the Sportsmanâ€™s Channel on Thursday nights at 10:30 p.m. and again Friday at 10:30 a.m. Tannerâ€™s episode airs Feb. 23 at 10:30 p.m. and again Feb. 24 at 10:30 a.m.

COLUMBIA CITY â€” As primaries draw near, Whitley County Councilman At-Large Paula Reimers is again throwing her hat in the ring. Currently, she joins five other Republicans and one Democrat who have given their notice to run prior to the Feb. 10 deadline. Reimers was elected Whitley County Councilman At-Large in 2010.
