‚ÄĘ Hanging of greens - 5 p.m.
Hanging of the Greens will be Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at Churubusco United Methodist Church.
This Advent celebration is a holiday gift for the season. It will be a time of reflection and music. Childcare will be provided.
‚ÄĘ Breakfast with Santa

PIERCETON ‚ÄĒ Pierceton Elementary School held its 15th Annual Talent Show, "Back to the Future,‚ÄĚ Friday Nov. 15.
There were 21 student acts in the categories of Vocal, Gymnastics, Instrumental and Variety. Nathan Polston, principal, continued a tradition ‚ÄĒ having the first year principal participate by reading "Thomas' Snowsuit."
Bill Rhodes, master of ceremonies, also entertained the crowd by playing the guitar, and several members of the teaching staff performed as "jailbirds" to "Jailhouse Rock."

COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ Veterans in Whitley County have a specialist enlisted to assist in a variety of ways.
From helping to determine benefits to leading veterans through state and federal applications, Veteran Service Officer (VSO) Gene Rohrer is on-hand to support those who have served the country.
However, the office, which is located in the Whitley County Government Center, West Van Buren Street, Columbia City, is becoming too small to handle the work flow and needs of the department.
COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ Officials approved Columbia City‚Äôs first one-way roadway at last week‚Äôs City Council meeting.
While there are no one-way streets within the city limits, there is soon to be a one-way alley, located near Eagle Tech Academy, on North Walnut Street.
Officials discussed the topic when school started in August. With more and more students attending ETA every year, the increased traffic at the school has posed some concerns.
Whitley County Children‚Äôs Choir, under the direction of Becky Walter, performed at the Courthouse‚Äôs gazebo Friday night after the Lighted Christmas Parade. The parade marched downtown for a second year in a row with music, floats and numerous lights.
