Hall receives new trial date

COLUMBIA CITY — A woman accused of methamphetamine manufacturing has a new trial date set in Whitley County Circuit Court.

Braidon M. Hall, 19, was originally scheduled to stand trial in February.

Monday, her new attorney, Brad Baber, said his schedule would demand a date three to four months from now.

Bayman announces re-election

COLUMBIA CITY — Jim Bayman has announced his intention to seek re-election for his seat on the Whitley County Council on the Republican ticket.

He currently represents Council District 4, which includes Cleveland, Jefferson and Washington Townships as well as the southern portion of Columbia Township.

Bayman has served the district since his election in 1982.

County welcomes first baby of 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s first new citizen born in 2014 came as a healthy baby boy Thursday.

Conner Isaiah Curry was born Jan. 2, 2014, at 7:34 a.m. at Parkview Whitley Hospital.

He weighed in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces at birth and measured 19.25 inches in length.

He is the son of Kayla Curry and Nicholas Gagnon of Columbia City, and joins his older brother, Jayden, who is 4 years old.

Conner was delivered by Dr. Michelle Harrison in a C-section.

His mother, Kayla, said she did not expect to have the first baby of 2014, since the delivery was a scheduled C-section.
