Artistic inspiration spans decades

March 30, 2014

SOUTH WHITLEY — As a child, art projects were a common family activity for Daniel Malicki, of South Whitley.

His father, Wally, was the art teacher at Whitko High School, so it seemed only natural that painting, drawing and other artistic elements would a part of Malicki’s childhood.

Now, Malicki’s day-to-day routine still incorporates brushes, pencils and paints, but it is more than a hobby — it’s a passion.

Malicki is in his second year teaching art to students at Whitko High School. He picked up the position when his father retired, after 35 years of teaching at WHS.
