COLUMBIA CITY — More than 100 students exhibited projects in the Coesse Elementary School Science Fair Feb. 26.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade had the opportunity to complete a project, following the steps of the Scientific Process.

Columbia City High School’s National Honor Society students, led by Andrew Weaver and IPFW intern students, judged the projects.

Students were required to present a poster project to the judges, discuss their steps of the Scientific Process, and answer questions from the judges about the scientific principles investigated.

COLUMBIA CITY – The Post & Mail’s newest compilations of the past year’s obituaries and family milestones are now available for purchase at the newspaper’s business office in two separate publications.
Families, friends, genealogists and local historians will be interested in securing copies of these publications.
In Memoriam, is the newspaper’s recap of more than 430 obituaries that appeared in The Post & Mail during 2013. In Memoriam is an 18-page, broadsheet special edition.
Milestones is a similarly sized newspaper special section that details more than 75 Weddings, Engagements,

Students at Northern Heights Elementary School recently celebrated Read Across America Day in a variety of activities. One way they did this was by inviting Dr. Pat O’Conner, Whitley County Consolidated School superintendent, to read a book to the entire second grade. 'BUSCO: Pearson honored for servant attitude

CHURUBUSCO — A Churubusco High School senior has been receiving recognition recently by doing the exact opposite — not looking for attention or praise.

Landon Pearson has received numerous honors, such as being a Lilly Endowment Finalist and earning the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen honor. He is also a member of Leadership Whitley County, among other endeavors.

Yet, Pearson said he has been involved in his community, not for the attention, but because he thinks it’s the right thing to do with his life.

COLUMBIA CITY — A traffic stop led to the seizure of $72,000 Sunday afternoon.

Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Cory Patrick stopped a vehicle on U.S. 30 near Ind. 5.
