‘Sacrifice: Meaningless without remembrance’

Under a sunny sky, red, white and blue colors were displayed signifying the importance of Memorial Day — remembering those who’ve died in service to the United States.

Members of the American Legion Post 98, the VFW #5582 and the Leatherneck Coffee Club came together to host an annual parade and ceremony Monday to honor the men and women who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.

“Why do we remember,” said Dick Stark, American Legion adjutant and past commander.

MEAL SERVICE TO RETURN TO S. WHITLEY: One Community to sponsor events for seniors

A once-was community service is finding a revived purpose in South Whitley.

Lunch & Camaraderie will begin providing meals to area seniors June 30 at the South Whitley Town Hall.

The meals are available to residents living in the Whitko Community School Corporation district and who are 60 years of age or older for a freewill donation.

After meals, the nonprofit, One Community, will sponsor activities and chair exercises, Mondays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
