COLUMBIA CITY - Police have received enough information to potentially identify the suspect in the alleged Columbia City purse snatching cases, thanks to the help of area news sources and social media.

Officials said Friday night they appreciate the help of local residents and the information they've provided.

However, a group of community volunteers have been working for more than 17 months to restore and preserve the Leaman Cemetery. In April of 2013, work began to tend to the overgrown and forgotten cemetery.

Whitley County Emergency Management Director Charlie Heflin is reminding citizens to keep some cash on-hand. The convenience of technology, Heflin said, is no big deal. However, Heflin is reminding citizens that technology isn’t completely fail-safe.

WHITLEY COUNTY — Patches of dense fog have developed across Whitley County and surrounding counties this morning prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Dense Fog Advisory. Sources say the fog will begin to lift by 9 am.
