COLUMBIA CITY - Police have received enough information to potentially identify the suspect in the alleged Columbia City purse snatching cases, thanks to the help of area news sources and social media.
Officials said Friday night they appreciate the help of local residents and the information they've provided.

The Columbia City Police Department is asking for community assistance in identifying a suspect in several recent purse snatchings in the month of September.
COLUMBIA CITY â Of the sights that a hiker might expect to see while trekking the many trails at the Crooked Lake Nature Preserve, a historic cemetery is most likely not on the list. However, a group of community volunteers have been working for more than 17 months to restore and preserve the Leaman Cemetery. In April of 2013, work began to tend to the overgrown and forgotten cemetery.
COLUMBIA CITY â It was a scene that rivaled any Western movie lot. The only thing missing from The Woodlands Senior Center birthday celebration was tumbleweed blowing in the wind. Each month the senior center, located at 710 N. Opportunity Dr. in Columbia City, hosts a birthday party for all its participants.

OLUMBIA CITY â Thousands of dollars in a bank account may be of no use in the event of an emergency, especially as winter approaches. Whitley County Emergency Management Director Charlie Heflin is reminding citizens to keep some cash on-hand. The convenience of technology, Heflin said, is no big deal. However, Heflin is reminding citizens that technology isnât completely fail-safe.
WHITLEY COUNTY â Patches of dense fog have developed across Whitley County and surrounding counties this morning prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Dense Fog Advisory. Sources say the fog will begin to lift by 9 am.
WHITLEY COUNTY â Elementary students from Whitley County will get a unique opportunity Friday to see what their futures could look like, as they step foot on the campus of Manchester University as part of Walk Into My Future. The event is part of the local âPromiseâ initiative taking place in four northern Indiana counties, including Whitley County.
