ON THE STAGE: Campbell to perform tonight

COLUMBIA CITY (June 27, 2014) — Old Settlers Days will feature Jenny Campbell on the South Courthouse Stage tonight at 8 p.m.

Jenny Campbell is from Illinios with musical roots in Louisiana and Tennessee.

Influenced by her grandfather’s vinyl record collections containing artists like Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette, Campbell’s life was changed when she was given her first guitar.

Not long after this, singing in the mirror was no longer satisfying her musical itch, she began working for a music career.

OPEN HOUSE AT ELKS: All invited to enjoy facility, hospitality Friday and Saturday

COLUMBIA CITY – Columbia City Elks Lodge #1417, conveniently located on the east side of the Whitley County Courthouse Square, 109 S. Main Street, will be open to all on Friday and Saturday as part of Old Settlers Days festivities.

The gathering place will be open to all ages for fun and hospitality. On Friday, the Elks will offer a Hog Roast and Karaoke entertainment, with the food being ready at 5:30 p.m.

LIVE SOUNDS: Short Term Memories to perform tonight

COLUMBIA CITY (June 26, 2014) -- Short Term Memories is a rock and roll band based out of North Webster and will perform a live concert tonight at 8 p.m. at the South Courthouse Stage.

The group has been playing in the Northern Indiana area for the past 14 years. STM features classic rock songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s with an emphasis on what the band calls “Brasskickin’rock.”

STM has more than 300 years of combined musical experience among its members.

COLUMBIA CITY (June 26, 2014) -- Registration of Old Settlers will take place until 2 p.m. at the Whitley County Historical Museum, 108 W. Jefferson St.

The presentation of the Oldest and Longest Continuous Citizen awards will be held at the South Courthouse Stage at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
